Giant Stag Beetle Specimen

Lucanus cervus, the European stag beetle, is the largest terrestrial insect in Europe. Males develop enormous mandibles used in combat over mates — a textbook example of sexual selection. This one-of-a-kind specimen measures over 8 cm and is mounted on an entomological pin in a sealed display case.
